Our Leadership

Keith McKinney, Senior Pastor

Hello Brunswick County! It took a while, but this NC mountain boy found his way to the NC coast. I am excited about the ministry opportunities here at Brunswick Islands Baptist. Whether you are in the area permanently, or just passing through, I invite you to come worship and grow with us.

My physical and spiritual journey began in Flat Rock, NC (near Hendersonville), and I am grateful for all those who invested in my life growing up. Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC, would be my college destination, and it was there that I heard God’s call while active in various ministry opportunities. After graduation, I attended Gardner-Webb Divinity School, while also serving as Minister to Students at my home church, East Flat Rock First Baptist. From there my ministry journey has taken me to Lyman, SC, King, NC, back to Boiling Springs, and now to Supply, NC.

Renee and I have been married for 25 years, and we are proud parents of our son Aiden (currently a sophomore in college).

In my free time, I enjoy being outside with my family in the woods or near the water (often with our two collies). I also enjoy reading, kayaking, golfing, music, college basketball, and talking JRR Tolkien (Lord of the Rings) with Aiden.

My passions as a pastor are to communicate God’s amazing love and grace to all while helping each one connect to an area of ministry where they find joy and can be a blessing to others.

He has told you, O mortal, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?
- Micah 6:8

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these. - Mark 12:30-31

Michelle Babson Forrester, Music Director

Hello, my name is Michelle Babson Forrester. I am originally from Bladenboro, NC, moved to Brunswick County in 2018. I am the Land Records Supervisor for New Hanover County, our job is to transfer every property sold, bought or combined for New Hanover County. I have worked for several different counties. I started in Bladen in 1996 and was there for 10 years, Robeson for 2 years, Cumberland for 10 years, Brunswick for 1 year, and have now been in New Hanover for 5 years. I am going into my 29th year with Local Government.

I have been singing for as long as I can remember, started out as a little girl. Been singing with my sisters all my life. I was the music director at the church I attended in Bladenboro for about 15 years, and taught Sunday school for about the same number of years. I recently was married in April of this year to Kim Forrester, who was also originally from Bladenboro. His Dad Rev. Paul Forrester was a Baptist minister until he went to be with the Lord in 1999. We feel the Lord lead us here to Brunswick Islands Baptist Church and we are excited to help in any way that we can. We look forward to seeing what the Lord is going to do.
